Thanks to some local folks, people all over the state can support future disaster recovery efforts in Missouri by ordering special American Red Cross license plates the next time they register their vehicles.
The Missouri House of Representatives passed a bill this year to create the new plates, and it was signed into law in August by Gov. Jay Nixon. The law allows donations of $25 to the Missouri Red Cross disaster relief fund for each vehicle registered.
Three Laclede County residents were critical to the effort. Rep. Darrell Pollock, R-Lebanon, sponsored the bill at the urging of Lebanon Red Cross Director Beverly Miller and Gib Adkins, a member of the board for the Greater Ozarks Chapter of the American Red Cross.
