Work has begun to replace the Missouri 5 bridges over the Osage Fork of the Gasconade River in Laclede County.
Much of the initial work is taking place off the road, with no traffic impacts expected until May 21 at the earliest.
“Once the actual work begins on the bridges, we will have to close Route 5,” said Missouri Department of Transportation Project Manager Bruce Green. “The road is scheduled to be reopened by Sept. 19, but an incentive payment for early completion could have the bridges open as early as Aug. 20. We have made every effort to minimize the time the bridges will be closed during the work.”
Traffic will be detoured during construction. The work is being done to improve safety on both bridges.
