A list of needs for the Kenneth E. Cowan Civic Center continues to grow as the CCC Improvement Planning Committee reviews each area of the facility.

On Wednesday, the committee focused its attention on the kitchen, concession and dock areas, then began to look at the YMCA portion of the building.

On Sept. 26 the committee reviewed the foyer, administrative offices, exhibition hall, meeting rooms, theater and back house areas. After reviewing that list chairman Matt Rogers suggested that a divider could be installed in the exhibition hall to allow smaller groups or more than one group to use the area at the same time.

“I think that is really important, because I hear a lot of people say they would love to have an event in the exhibition hall, but they just aren’t big enough,” Nancy Hall said.

The challenges found with that idea were the bleachers and having enough tables and chairs for more than one event.

However, City Administrator Chris Heard said the group may be asked to consider updating the tables and purchasing other “consumable” items, such as stages, linens, pipe and drape, things that could be rented to groups.
