Arctic blast bringing in new year

Things warmed up a bit Friday, but a major arctic blast is coming just in time for the New Year’s weekend.
Meteorologist Bruce Hatch of the National Weather Service in Springfield said wind chills over the weekend will be dangerous and people should limit outdoor activities.
“We are expecting a warmup and when I say warmup, I think our high’s going to be around 40,” Hatch said. “But then we get another shot of arctic air that will spill down across the plains out of Canada and really settle right over the region for the weekend and into early next week.”
On Sunday, New Year’s Eve, low temperatures of around 5 degrees were expected for the Lebanon region.
