Representatives of a group working to save the old Route 66 bridge over the Gasconade river near Hazelgreen presented their plans to the Laclede County Commission Thursday.
Julie Bowers, representing Workin’ Bridges in Iowa, and Jax Welborn who is acting as project manager for the bridge effort, spoke to commissioners about the group’s plans.
“We’re here today to see if there’s any way to work within the framework of the county or just to see what possibilities we have out there,” Bower said.
Bowers said they spoke with Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) officials at their recent public meeting in Lebanon and discussed a new access road.
