Cackle Hatchery held its annual Chicken Festival on Friday and Saturday. The event was scheduled to include live poultry displays, chicken health seminars, a fly tying demonstration, a hard-boiled egg eating contest and a variety of other activities. Pictured, David Woodruff reaches for another hard boiled egg Saturday at Cackle Hatchery’s egg eating contest. Woodruff won the contest by eating 27 eggs in eight minutes. His performance broke a series of local records that were set throughout the Chicken Festival. On Friday, a 20-egg tie broke last year’s record, and in the first heat of Saturday’s competition a man ate 24 eggs. In Saturday’s second heat, the high was 25 eggs. Woodruff competed in the third heat.
