LHS art teacher wants to bring the world to Lebanon

After 23 years as a Lebanon High School art teacher and her fourth year as head of the department, Elizabeth Bauer-Barker, an LHS graduate herself, should be sitting back, relaxing, having learned after two decades how to handle this art teacher position with ease. But, the teacher doesn’t even understand the meaning of the phrase, sitting back and relaxing.
She is one of those extraordinary teachers in the same vein as the ones they make movies about. Teachers like Elizabeth Barker are changing and very possibly, helping to save our world. While her students are not the same as those in the movies, they struggle with some similar problems of poverty, drugs, and lack of economic or educational opportunity. Elizabeth, however, has a solution for that.
It’s called a Globally Strong Culture Fair, scheduled this year for Thursday, March 22 at LHS, beginning at 8:15 am and running through 7:30 pm.
