A Lebanon accountant has been accused of stealing millions of dollars from an Oklahoma company and its investors — including some in the Lebanon area — over the course of several years.

Officials with the Missouri Secretary of State’s Office have filed a petition against Certified Public Accountant Douglas Richardson after an investigation found that Richardson allegedly embezzled more than $3 million from people who intended to invest in the Oklahoma-based company Smart Prong Technologies. Smart Prong Technologies and its subsidiary, Semitrex, LLC, have filed a lawsuit against Richardson, claiming that he embezzled $4.7 million from them. According to the Secretary of State’s Office, the $3 million from the Secretary of State’s Office investigation is included in the $4.7 million.

Richardson’s wife, Dawn Ricchardson, and his business, Douglas A. Richardson CPA, are also named in the latter suit.

The two cases state that Richardson was both the CPA and the chief financial officer for Smart Prong Technologies, and the petition from the Secretary of State’s Office says that he was also the company’s treasurer.
