Man claims he was assaulted with a stapler

A man using a metal detector found metal that was not treasure.

According to a report filed by the Lebanon Police Department, a 67-year-old Lebanon man was metal detecting on north Adams when two men in a white Chevrolet pickup assaulted him.

The men, whom the reporting party believed were school employees, told him what he was doing was illegal.

He told police the passenger of the truck then shot him in the neck with a staple, according to the report.

The man reported the incident last week but said the assault happened in September.

The report did not mention why the man had not called police earlier.
