New Zealander runs across America

While much of Lebanon slept Friday morning, international visitor Nick Ashill slipped out of town to begin the next leg of his four-month journey across the United States.

Ashill is running from Los Angeles to New York to raise awareness of pulmonary fibrosis, the disease that killed his mother.

“If you look at the stats and you compare it with the likes of breast cancer and prostate cancer just as examples, pulmonary fibrosis is arguably the least known covert killer,” Ashill stated. “So that’s a key objective of this run, is to really raise awareness of what it is.”
