The bellringers are back.
The Laclede County Salvation Army’s annual fundraising campaign featuring the sound of bells and kettles for donations began Friday.
And it’s all for a good cause that continues well past the Christmas holiday season.
Cindy Carroll, Salvation Army food pantry manager, said the bellringing campaign raises funds used by the Salvation Army throughout the year.
These include a food pantry, a kids camp that’s free for low income families, projects such as cleaning up the city parks and helping senior citizens.
“We’re serving over 1,000 families a month at our local food pantry,” Carroll said. “Approximately 477 of them are seniors. We’re just doing what we can to help our community.”
