An Oklahoma man who was arrested for stabbing another person Sunday in Laclede County is out of custody for now as the Laclede County Sheriff’s Office continues investigating the case.

On Sunday, the Laclede County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man who allegedly stabbed another man in the neck during a physical altercation at the victim’s residence in the 1200 area of Route Z. According to Laclede County Sheriff David Millsap, the man has not been charged for the stabbing.

Millsap explained that there is a question about whether the alleged stabber might have been acting in self-defense. The victim also was not interested in pressing charges.

“The victim’s cooperation is very much needed in these types of cases,” Millsap stated. “The ultimate decision of whether charges are ever filed in a case is up to the prosecutor, but obviously victim’s cooperation in any case is really needed, and if the victim is not interested in pursuing charges, in most cases, we either don’t present the case, or if we present it and the prosecutor feels like the victim is not going to cooperate, the case usually doesn’t go forward.”
