Nothing says “I love you” like a fresh bouquet of flowers on Valentine’s Day. And the employees at Always Flowers and Plants, LLC are in the business of making this holiday noteworthy for that special someone.

“There’s no better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than with some flowers,” said florist Jerry Chastain as he carefully placed a rose into a vase Monday morning. “Flowers are wonderful. I just love it. Everyone should get flowers whenever they can.”

Work at Always Flowers may seem like a walk in the park from a customer’s perspective, but the seven workers in the back of this establishment are all business. Those wishing to keep up with a florist on Valentine’s Day need the stamina of a racehorse and the footwork of a ballerina. Workers are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes.

They spend 80 percent of the day walking back and forth from the cooler room to get new flowers, setting aside the new arrangements, staying out of the way of other workers, and tracking down those elusive ink pens.
