A fundraiser where Lebanon High School boys wear dresses and perform whatever talent they can think of before curtain call was a smashing success Saturday night in Boswell Auditorium with about 400 spectators in attendance.

Big Man on Campus is a burlesque-like beauty pageant for boys that raises money for Project Graduation, a drug and alcohol-free celebration that follows the graduation ceremony each year. Project Graduation is held to prevent alcohol-related tragedies following graduation, and BMOC is a primary fundraiser.

Project Graduation and Big Man on Campus coordinator Cathrin Letterman explained that she wants this year’s Project Graduation to be better than ever before. In order to make this happen, Letterman says Big Man on Campus had to be successful.

“Judging by the crowd and how happy everyone is, I think we are going to have lots of fun. We’ve heard nothing but great news from people here today. This is a huge event. People have been waiting to get in, and there are filling the stands as we speak. It’s great because we can always do more at Project Grad’ if tonight goes well,” Letterman said Saturday night.

The theme for the event is based on a quote from the movie “The Sandlot,” “Heroes get remembered, but legends never die.”
