Hershel Vandergrift picture

Hershel Vandergrift, 80, of Lebanon, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, in Lebanon.
He was born Sept. 27, 1936, in Lebanon, Mo. to Dewey George and Velma Wilson Vandergrift.
On March 5, 1992, he married Vicky Tarr.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Steve Vandergrift; one sister, Betty Stone; three brothers, Everett, Earnest and Clarence; one brother and one sister in infancy.
Hershel was vice president of Central Bank for many years. He was also owner/operator of his own over-the-road trucking for the past 30 years.
He was a lifetime member of Bennett Spring Church of God. Survivors include his wife, Vicky; one son, Stanley Vandergrift and his wife, Dora, of Oil Trough, Ark.; one brother, Virgil Vandergrift and his wife, Libby, of Lebanon and their daughter, Jennifer Vandergrift, also of Lebanon; one sister, Esther Cottingham, of Lebanon; five grandchildren, Kevin, Jason, Kim Malone and her husband, Darnell, Joseph and Kelly; seven great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Zackary, Emily, Ashlynn, Jaden, Kelby, and Peyton.
Funeral services for Hershel Vandergrift will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with Matt Stowe officiating.
There is no scheduled burial. At his request, his body is to be cremated following the service, under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday also at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel. Memorials have been suggested in memory of Hershel and donations can be left at or mailed to Shadel’s Colonial Chapel, P.O. Box 948, Lebanon, Mo. 65536.
