Wendy Kenemer, the first BollyX instructor in Missouri, will “rock your world” with a cardio workout inspired by India’s famously extravagant movie industry.

Hiding between Cell Phone Savers and TMD Outlet at 712 South Monroe Avenue is a small yoga and dance studio where a yoga teacher is serving up a new type of dance exercise — BollyX.

“This workout is so much more fun than just running on a treadmill. This is a fun experience. It’s hard to think of something more fun than dancing. That’s why this is such a fun way to exercise and stay fit. Everyone will love BollyX because it’s so easy to fall in love (with) dancing,” said Kenemer, who is an E-RYT 500 certified yoga teacher.

BollyX is a Bollywood-inspired cardio dance exercise class that takes the dance moves, and songs from Bollywood (India’s equivalent of Hollywood, known for its extravagant scope, production design, use of color and dance) and incorporates them into a high-intensity workout. The Zumba-like dance sessions are thought to be an enjoyable way to stay active and healthy while shedding a few pounds to the rhythms of Indian pop music.

“It’s a great dance workout that anyone can do. It doesn’t matter how old or what gender you are. The movements are very gender neutral. As long as you come ready to dance and have a fun time, I guarantee people will be thrilled with the atmosphere and the results,” Kenemer said.
