Council considers firms to help find city admin

The Lebanon City Council is preparing to take the first step toward finding a new city administrator.

At a work session meeting Thursday night, the council heard presentations from three firms proposing to help the city with the recruitment and hiring process.

The office has been vacant since the resignation of former City Administrator Chris Heard took effect June 30. The city is also waiting to seat a new mayor. Jared Carr is expected to be appointed at the Sept. 25 council meeting.

The new mayor will appoint the city administrator.

Council members would like to make a decision and begin the process at their next meeting on Sept. 25, but they wanted to see more information first.

Mayor Pro Tem LeAnn Mather said council members need to read the information from the three firms and do their homework.

The consultants all said it would take about 12 weeks to find and hire a city administrator. Extra time will be needed to allow the person to leave their current job and move to Lebanon.
Lee Szymborski of GovHR USA told the council his firm would recruit and screen candidates for the position.  Szymborski said he would end up with a portfolio of 10 to 12 candidates to choose from.

Kristin Navarro of Strategic Government Resources (SGR) said her company would prepare a position profile brochure and advertise the position on social media.
