Learning to kick it

While the days of Chuck Norris kicking through a windshield, Bruce Lee making funny noises and Steven Seagal not using a stuntman are over, the martial arts continue to be popular.
Mixed martial artists have replaced movie heroes, changing the emphasis from exaggerated dramatic moves to real life skills.
Consequently, martial arts schools are still around and gaining new students everyday.
For 33 years, Tommy Barker has been teaching students the martial arts.
He has a Kickin’ It Martial Arts school at 920 Alexis Avenue in Lebanon near Penmac and one at 1100 Spur Drive in Marshfield.
Barker has enjoyed his run in Lebanon.
“I’ve been in the Lebanon community helping people learn self-defense and fitness and I have appreciated the town all the years,” Barker said.
