The Lebanon High School wrestling team recently competed at the Missouri Duals over the weekend at Helias High School. During the duals, Lebanon finished with a 6-1 record in the dual and brought home third place, defeating Jefferson City 34-32.

It was a successful weekend for the Lebanon High School wrestling team at the Missouri Duals over the weekend held at Helias High School.

The ‘Jackets finished the tournament with a 6-1 record with its only loss coming to powerhouse Neosho. Lebanon (7-1 overall) placed third, defeating Jefferson City in the third-place match, 34-32.

Lebanon head coach Randy Roark was proud of the way his team performed.

“It was a solid weekend,” Roark said about the tournament. “We wrestled alright throughout the weekend, and I thought our guys performed hard.

“We have a couple of guys who need to step it up a little bit, but as a whole, we wrestled pretty well.”

LHS kicked off the two-day tournament with a win over Helias, 43-27.

In the first match, Roark said his team started slow and trailed 21-0 to start the match before the ‘Jackets posted their first win.

He mentioned that the “big guys” pulled them through the match at the end to help secure the win.

To end the first night, Lebanon defeated Ozark (45-28) and Battle (63-9).

During the Ozark match, senior Hunter Lewis (120 pounds) defeated his opponent 2-1 after falling to the same wrestler 9-0 last week.

On Saturday morning, Lebanon defeated Grain Valley 54-23 and blanked Owensville 80-0.

In the semifinal match against Neosho, Roark decided to try and switch a few things around in the LHS lineup.

“We moved some people around hoping to get some upsets, and it didn’t pan out,” Roark said. “It kind of backfired, but I thought we wrestled hard in that match.”
