Mayor gives state of the city

Mayor Jared Carr

The City of Lebanon has made good progress on a list of goals set by the City  Council last summer, according to Mayor Jared Carr.
Carr spoke at Thursday’s Rotary Club luncheon with a “State of the City” report.
One goal was to appoint a new mayor, which Carr said, was accomplished when he was named to the job on Sept. 25.
The council is still working on another goal, the appointment of a new city administrator.
“We just had a meeting Tuesday night, and we do have it narrowed down to some finalist candidates,” Carr said.
He said he was not yet able to speak in detail about the hiring process, but said the public should expect to hear more soon.
“I think we have some very well qualified persons and I’m looking forward to introducing them to the community at a very near date in the future,” Carr said. “As soon as we can announce that, we will.”
Addressing council decorum, order and the relationship between the mayor, council and staff was another goal. Carr said this was accomplished with a new ordinance.
