Non-profit drops Route 66 bridge project

After clashing with members of the Route 66 Gasconade River Guardians, Workin’ Bridges is pulling out of the effort to save the Old Route 66 Bridge over the Gasconade River.
The nonprofit organization, based in Iowa and Michigan, works with organizations across the United States to save historic bridges. Julie Bowers, Workin’ Bridges president, said they had encountered serious disagreements with some local people over the effort.
