Ancell Mark Atkins, 79, of Lebanon, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, in St. Louis.
He was born July 19, 1938, in Springfield, Mo. to Almon Andrew and Mary Josephine Mack Atkins, who preceded him in death.
On March 11, 1961, he married Karen Sue Tompkins.
He graduated from Drury College with a degree in Education and a Masters Degree in Education and Certification in Special Education and Guidance. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He spent his working years giving a lifetime of service (30 years) to the Lebanon School System in citizenship, guidance, special education and career development placement. Ancell was also a member of Laclede Lodge No. 83 A.F. & A.M and Lebanon Chapter O.E.S.— Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years.
Ancell was a member of First Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Atkins; one son, Ancell Mark Atkins and his wife, Kathleen; two daughters, Mary Lenore Atkins Riggs and Susan Atkins Back and her husband, Jeff; two grandchildren, Cameron Andrew Back and Mary Kathryn Atkins; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Ancell Mark Atkins will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at First Christian Church with the Rev. Greg Turner officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery, under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday also at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.
