Bernice Montgomery Johnson, 91, of Tulsa, Okla., formerly of Lebanon, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, in Tulsa.
She was born Dec. 15, 1925, near Phillipsburg, Mo. to Hershel and Retha Hawkins Montgomery.
On July 21, 1946, she married Thomas Donald Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don, on Oct. 24, 2009; and three brothers, Norris, Ebb and Jude Montgomery.
Bernice was employed in cosmetic sales and fashion sales with Savage Juliette, also The Place on the Plaza in Springfield.
She professed faith as a young girl and became a member of Salem Baptist Church in Phillipsburg, later Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she was the song leader for several years, and lastly Seminole Baptist Church in Springfield.
Survivors include one son, Steven Johnson, of Tulsa, Okla.; one daughter, Patti Bothwell and her husband, Craig, of Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, DeLores Shadel, of Lebanon; four grandchildren, Paige Bothwell Dick and her husband, Jarrett, Lesli Bothwell Cummings and her husband, Robert, Melody Johnson and Jordan Johnson and his wife, Jeni; five great-grandchildren, Layla and Madison Dick, Luke Johnson, Reid and Chloe Cummings; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Arrangements for Bernice Montgomery Johnson are incomplete at this time and will be announced by Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon.
