Dorothy Helen Southard, 99, of Lebanon, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, in Lebanon.
She was born April 23, 1918, at Bunceton, Mo. to Ernest and Eva Dougan McFarland.
On Sept. 12, 1937, she married Eldra F. Southard Sr. and on Feb. 2, 1972 she married Rea Southard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Eldra Southard on Sept. 9, 1962, and Rea Southard on Jan. 29, 1978; one son, Ralph, in infancy; one sister, Lois Lafferty; one brother, Leslie McFarland; two nephews, Henry Southard and Keith Lafferty, and one niece, Helen Winkler.
She was owner/operator of a grocery store in Falcon with her husband. In later years, she worked 10 years as an insurance secretary and retired as bookkeeper of an accounting firm.
Dorothy was a member of First Christian Church in Lebanon.
She is survived by two sons, Eldra Southard Jr., of Lebanon, and Gene Southard and his wife, Betty, of Peoria, Ill.; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
A graveside service and burial for Dorothy Helen Southard will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2017, at Lebanon Cemetery, under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon.
There is no scheduled visitation.
