Gary Newman, 61, of Eldridge, died Tuesday, November 7, 2017, in Columbia.
He was born Oct. 18, 1956, in Sikeston, Mo. to William and Louise Cecil Newman.
On May 30, 1975, he married Rita Sue Alexander.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Donald (Pops) Polley; one brother Larry Dale Newman; one brother-in-law, Jerry Wayne Alexander; one sister-in-law, Rosemary Newman; his father and mother-in-law, Seamon and Miriam Alexander.
Gary worked for Good Humor (Breyers) Ice Cream Manufacturing Company in Sikeston.
He was a charter member of New Hope Baptist Church in Sikeston, where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Rita; two sons, Derrick Newman (Kelly), of Lebanon; Hunter Newman (Roger),of Macomb; one daughter, Heather Newman Cranmer, of Macomb; four grandchildren, Karsen, Preston, Madilyn, and Grayson Newman; four brothers, James “Bubb’’ Newman (Melba), of Hardin, Ky.; Billy Newman (Connie), of Joliet, Ill.; Mike Newman, of Sikeston; Jerry Newman (Sheila), of Kansas; two sisters, Brenda Alexander, of Sikeston; Debbie Jones (Wayne), of Bertrand, Mo.; special friend, Ti Bordoff and her children, Ireland and Elizabeth Bordoff; great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Gary Newman will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with Kris Alexander and Tom Hill officiating.
Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery, under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Saturday also at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.
