Noel W. Hightower

Noel W. Hightower, 94, of Lebanon, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2018 in Mercy Hospital Springfield.

He was born July 1, 1923, near Grovespring, Mo., to Harley H. and Rushie I. Priester Hightower.

On June 2, 1944, he married Freda Eileen Davis.

Noel W. Hightower was born and raised in the Grovespring community and graduated from Grovespring High School. During high school, he took part in the CivilianConservation Corps and then entered the United States Navy as a young man. He served his country faithfully in World War II. After the war, he returned to the family farm and then moved to Lebanon. He worked for Lebanon Wholesale Grocers, Bahr Dairy Bar, Foremost Dairy, West Overpass Phillips 66 and Mid-America Dairy, all while working on the farm. He was also a member of the teamsters Union.

He had made his profession of faith in Christ and attended the New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church near Niangua.

Noel W. Hightower was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Russell, Vance and Lane Hightower; and a sister, Novella Hightower.
He is survived by his wife Eilee
n, of the home; a daughter, LaVona Chambers, and her husband, David, of Springfield; a son, Larry Hightower and his wife, Denise Cross, of Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Scott and Julie Chambers and Megan Martins; five great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Madison, Samantha, Lucas and Milena; one great-great-grandchild, Mykal; a sister, Charlene Barclay, of Lake Charles, La.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Noel W. Hightower are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, in Holman-Howe Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Terry officiating.

Entombment will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Visitation is scheduled for 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11 at the funeral home.
