Opal Newell, 92, of Stoutland, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, in Auxvasse, Mo.
She was born March 8, 1925, in Brush Creek, Mo. to Charles Elvin and Maude Ethel Lyons Builderback.
On Sept. 22, 1946, she married Ralph Newell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph, in 1985; ten brothers and sisters.
Opal worked many years at Rice-Stix and H.D. Lee until her retirement in 1972. She became the primary caregiver for her husband Ralph until his death. She eventually went back to work at Stoutland Schools in the cafeteria.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Ralph Newell and his wife, Lois, of Lebanon; Keith Dewayne Newell and his wife, Michelle, of Stoutland, and Gary Don Newell and his wife, Kari, of Auxvasse,  Mo.; one brother, J.C. Coldwell Builderback and his wife, June, of Clinton; one sister, Martha June Burch, of Osceola; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Builderback, of Stoutland and Mary Louise Builderback, of Lebanon; eight grandchildren, Mike Newell and his wife, Cassie, Tammy Alexander and her husband, Nathan, Brittany Wise and her husband, Evan, Cory Newell and his wife, Kristen, Christopher Newell and his wife, JoJo, Ethan Newell and his wife, Nichole, Ashley Newell and Amber Ogle and her husband, Christopher; five great-grandchildren, and one-on-the-way; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services Opal Newell will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, in Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Roger Marshall officiating.
Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery, under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday also at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.
