Raymond Lee Lewis, 73, of Ashland, formerly of Lebanon, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018.
He was born Sept. 9, 1944, in Lebanon, Mo. to Oliver Raymond and Elvia Volner Lewis, who preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by four brothers, Glen McCoy, Mitchell, U.L. and Bob Lewis, and son, Ryan Lewis.
On July 1, 1966, he married Rosemary Buckner.
He served as a sergeant in the U.S Army during the Vietnam War. During his career he was a mechanic, machinist and certified welder. He and Rosemary enjoyed drag racing, tractor pulling, stock car racing and building high-performance Chevy motors for friends in motorsports.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Rosemary; a brother, Lugene “Luke’’ (Pauline) Lewis,  a sister-in-law, Jannie Lewis, all of Lebanon; daughters, Rosemarie (Jon) Brewer and Raymona (Karl) Buddemeyer; a son, Jeremy (Kasandra) Traxler; 16 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; two special nephews, Ronnie Lewis and Colby Lewis, and a lifetime friend, Carolyn (Griffin) Schuenemeyer, all of Lebanon, also other relatives.
A celebration of his life will be held in the spring at the family home. The date and details will be announced later.
