Ricky Eugene Atkinson, 55, of Niangua, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at Mercy Hospital-Springfield.
He was born May 19, 1961, in Cabool, Mo. to Jack and Donna (Foley) Atkinson.
On Oct. 18, 1987, he married Merry Weaver. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Ricky embodied the “cowboy spirit,’’ and was closely tied to the out-of-doors and nature.
On June 3, 1973, he made a profession of faith in Christ and obeyed the gospel, being baptized Sept. 2, 1973.
Survivors include his wife, Merry, of the home; five children, Jason Atkinson, Jessica McGee, Jennifer Clark and husband, Eric, Bill Weaver and wife, Natalie, and Jessica Weaver; several grandchildren; his parents, Jack and Donna Atkinson; two brothers, Gary Atkinson and wife, Deonna and Mike Atkinson and wife, Jan; two sisters, Mitzi Whittaker and Terry Lynn Atkinson; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Ricky Eugene Atkinson will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, at Day Funeral Home in Marshfield. Burial will be in Bethel Chapel Cemetery at Hartville.
Visitation was scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House in care of the funeral home.
