Rosetta “Rusty’’ Francis (Smith) Cochran, 89, a longtime resident of Stoutland, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at the Dallas Retirement Village in Dallas, Ore.
She was born Jan. 3, 1929, in Stayton, Ore. to Orion J.W. and Goldie Smith.
Rusty was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Orion “O.D.’’ Smith, and two sisters, Myrtle Stir and Goldie Palmer.
Until she retired, she worked at the Arizona State Compensation Fund in Phoenix, Ariz. where she was in charge of the records department. She enjoyed cross stitching, gardening, Mexican food and working crossword puzzles. Until her health declined she was an avid gardener and having grown up in Portland, Ore., she was very fond of roses.
She is survived by her son, Russell Garner, of Bakersfield, Calif.; two daughters, Linda Oeser, of Jefferson City and Sharon Peterson, of Stoutland; a stepdaughter, June Cochran, of Portland, Ore.; six granddaughters, four grandsons, 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and many wonderful friends.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date, under direction of Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center.
