Sidney Carl Howell, 87, of Grovespring, died Monday afternoon, Jan. 15, 2018, in Springfield.
He was born March 14, 1930, near Competition, Mo. to William L. and Ada Ethel Simmons Howell.
Sidney was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ellis Howell and an infant, Ancel Howell, and a sister, Verbia L. Howell.
He lived most of his life in the Grovespring area, where he owned and operated a farm.  He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Korean War at the Russian border. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to his farm and had a dairy operation and did cattle farming.
Sidney had made his profession of faith in Christ and had attended several churches in the area over the last several years. He currently was attending Orla Baptist Church.
He is survived by a brother, Billy Howell, of Grovespring; a sister, Teen Sharp, of Springfield; a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services for Sidney Carl Howell will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, in Holman-Howe Funeral Home with the Rev. Bradley Jemes officiating.
Burial will be in McBride Cemetery, under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
