WILBERT WARREN AMOS

Wilbert Warren Amos, 95, of Lebanon, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, in Lebanon South Nursing and Rehab in Lebanon.
He was born Jan. 10, 1923, in Laclede County, Mo. to Abram Hugh and Cora Lindsay Adams.
On April 13, 1946, he married Freida Pauline Hamilton.
He was preceded his wife, Pauline, on July 24, 2017; two grandsons, Jason and Matthew Amos, and his parents.
Wilbert was born and raised in the Lebanon area. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge; he was a key player in capturing the Bridge of Remagan, this event opened the Rhine River for the Allies, and Wilbert was one of the first to cross the Rhine River. After retiring from the military, he was a farmer and then went back to college. He received his degree from the University of Missouri. Then he taught vocational agriculture and was an FFA advisor at Wright City, Mountain Grove and Lebanon. He also taught in the Junior High and Senior High of Lebanon for several years.
He was ordained as a deacon at Mansfield Baptist Church. After that he was an active member and deacon at Orla Baptist Church. He was also a Gideon for many years.
Survivors include a daughter, Glenda Stratton and her husband, Steve, of Lebanon; a son, Gary Amos and his wife, Diana, of Lebanon; three grandchildren, Jane Ann Massey, of Ozark; Josh Amos and his wife, Stephanie, of Lebanon and Joseph Stratton and his wife, Laura, of Lebanon; seven great-grandchildren, Austin, Josie, Paula, Samuel, Issac, Hannah and Emmylou.
Funeral services for Wilbert Warren Amos will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, at Holman-Howe Funeral Home with the Rev. Bradley Jemes and Jordan Witt officiating.
Burial will be at Veterans Park in Mount Rose Memorial Park, under the care and direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Holman-Howe Funeral Home.
Memorial donations to Gideons and Oral Baptist Church Building Fund may be made at the funeral home.
