Missouri ranked 16th in human traffic

I have noticed several frightening accounts recently about babies and children being stalked in broad daylight in shopping centers and department stores.

Some of these have occurred here in Missouri. Yes, I know all about “fake news,” especially on Facebook, but I have done my research on this subject, and while I cannot possibly cover the entire subject in one column, I feel an urgency to increase awareness of the human trafficking issue in our own state, knowing that I will be writing more in the days to come.

I would be remiss if I didn’t remind you that we have recently dealt with the issue right here in Laclede County.  I realize we would prefer not to talk about it because we love this area and treasure its beauty and history, but human trafficking is definitely the “elephant in the room,” both here and throughout the state of Missouri.
