For the second time in the short season, the Lebanon boys’ soccer team posted their second win over the Osage Indians on Thursday at Osage High School, 3-2.

During their home tournament this season to start the year, Lebanon was able to defeat Osage to secure third place at the tournament.

The ‘Jackets got off to a quick start on Thursday when freshman Zack Richards scored a goal in the first 13 seconds of the game to give Lebanon an early 1-0 lead.

The Indians were able to capitalize with two goals of their own, but with four seconds left in the first half sophomore Trey Brown delivered a beautiful corner kick that Ethan Murray was able to head in to square things up heading into halftime.

In the second half, Lebanon head soccer coach Matt Jernigan said his team switched some things up that benefited them in the long run.

“We really challenged the team to get the shut out in the second half and went with some of our younger guys back in the defense,” Jernigan said. “We knew we could score one, we just needed to keep them out of net.

“Kaleb Hooper, Zach Richards, Ethan Murray, Trey Brown and Manny Del-Rio Vasquez really stepped up in the defense and got the shut out in the second half.”

Lebanon will host Bolivar on Tuesday.
