Lebanon graduate Mikalyn Callahan makes dean's list at Westminster


Former Lebanon girls’ basketball standout Mikalyn Callahan is pursuing her dream of playing college basketball at Westminster College in Fulton.

Callahan is a 2016 graduate of Lebanon High School. Westminster women’s basketball finished the 2016-2017 season in second place on the Women Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll.

The Blue Jays compiled a team GPA average of 3.669, just .004 points away from top-ranked Emerson College.

This year marks the sixth consecutive year that the team has ranked in the top 20, and the second straight year of finishing in second place. During the 2013-14 season, Westminster placed No. 1 on the list.

Callahan is one of 12 players on her team that ended up on the dean's list.

According to the team website, Callahan saw action in 22 games, starting in six as a true freshman, playing 20 minutes pers game. Callahan led the team in field goal percentage at 54.3% on the season and averaged 6.0 points per game. She also grabbed 3.3 rebounds per game (72 total) and dished out 1.2 assists per game (27).
