The Lebanon football team played their best game of the season by far on Friday night, defeating the West Plains Zizzers on their homecoming night, 27-22.

With 10:48 left in the fourth quarter, Lebanon took over after a Zizzers punt on their own 13-yard line. The ‘Jackets would burn the clock all the way down to 2:46 after a 5-yard rushing touchdown from senior John Berry on their 21st play of the drive on fourth-and-goal to put the game out of reach.

“It was a huge win,” Lebanon head football coach Will Christian said. “I am proud of our kids, coaches and our whole program. Coming down here is a tough place to play with a tough atmosphere and it being their homecoming.

“This was a huge team win for our program against a talented West Plains team.”

The Zizzers would score late in the game with little time remaining to cut the lead to five, but Lebanon junior Jayton Cromer and the starting second baseman for the Lebanon baseball team recovered the onside kick to seal the deal.

“We have a bunch of baseball guys up front on the onside kick on purpose,” Christian said on Cromer’s recovery. “Everyone did their job and we were able to secure a victory.”
