After honoring six seniors before their match, the Lebanon High School wrestling team defeated the Glendale Falcons and Rolla Bulldogs in a double dual match on Wednesday night at Dr. Tom Luthy Fieldhouse.

With two of the top teams in the Ozark Conference squaring off, the ‘Jackets defeated the Bulldogs 42-24.

Lebanon got off to a slow start, losing four out of their five matches.

The match started at 120 pounds, and junior Hunter Lewis lost 13-2. Sophomore Cole Roark pinned his opponent in the first period at 126 pounds, but from there the ‘Jackets lost their next three matches.

Senior Cade Schmitz dropped a tough match 3-5 at 132 pounds, junior Reagan Mowery lost his match against a state-ranked opponent at 138 pounds, and Caleb Shields lost 3-8 at 145 pounds.

“They (Rolla) have some good wrestlers at those lighter weights,” Lebanon head coach Randy Roark said about the beginning of the Rolla match. “Their lighter weights are where their studs are. A few of those guys are ranked No. 1 in the state (113 and 138), and 126 is ranked No. 2.

“We knew they were going to be tough to stop in those lightweights, but we thought once we got up in the upper weights we could take advantage.”

Sophomore Trevor Christian got LHS back on track with a quick pin in the first period against his opponent at 152 pounds to make the match score 12-15. Jericho Marquez (160) and Jon Berry (170) each followed Christian’s match with a pin of their own to put LHS on top, 24-15.
