Lebanon senior Cally Blattel is returning to the middle of the LHS softball lineup after earning a unanimous first team All-Ozark Conference selection last season as a junior.

Lebanon senior Cally Blattel will be returning to the middle part of the lineup for the LHS softball team this fall.

As a junior, Blattel earned a first team All-Ozark Conference selection and was named second team All-Regional for Missouri Class 4 Districts 9-12.

In her first five games last season, Blattel hit .588, hit two home runs, and drove in six runs.

“She (Cally) had a big season for us last season,” Lebanon head softball coach Stanley Crum said. “We are expecting big things from her this season and hoping she can do what she was able to do last year for us.”

Crum said that Blattel is one of the best softball players he has ever coached in all the years he has been around the game of softball.

“To be honest, she is one of the best raw talents that I have ever seen as a coach for a softball player.

“She is a leader on this team and I am excited to see what she can do.”

The Daily Record caught up with Blattel to talk to her about her senior season.

LDR – Talk about some things you’ve worked on this offseason to get ready for the upcoming season?

Blattel – This offseason I have really tried to work on a little bit of everything, but mainly I’ve worked on my batting a lot and on my speed.

LDR – Who has been the most influential person on your softball career and why?

Blattel – I would have to say that my dad is the most influential person my softball career because he pushes me to do my best and he’s always at all my games he has put a lot of time and effort into my softball career.

LDR – What positions do you play and which do you enjoy the most and why?

Blattel – I play everywhere, but I would have to say the pitcher spot is my favorite because you get to control the pace of the game. I also enjoy playing third base because you always get something hit to you.

LDR – What is your favorite softball memory so far?

Blattel – My favorite softball memory is when we won against Jefferson City at the place last season because that’s one of our harder teams we have to play against during the year.
